Late in 2007, and mostly in 2008, efforts were underway to improve the Alltel.com user experience. Lots of research was completed and work was well underway when Verizon purchased Alltel.

I worked closely with the User Experience, Planning departments and Alltel's in-house design staff to revitalize Alltel's web efforts. Alltel's goals were to make the site like it's advertising and stores had worked so hard to be: friendly, consumer focused and easy to use.

At this time, I was the design lead on Alltel, and used this as an opportunity to make the different design palletes (tv, digital and print used essentially different palletes) make thematic sense by having the site work as a hub that tied them all together. (a trend you'll see in my work on other accounts).

As part of this, I developed a new styleguide that was to be used for all online communication to upadate and integrate the brand.

A real goal of the CE team and Alltel clients was to really streamline the user experience at the site, and make it have a personality. I also love really large type, and I think this might be the largest type on a consumer website ;) Ultimately this was to be the first phase of a comprehensive re-look at the entire Alltel online ethos, but again, Verizon had other plans...
